So several months ago my mom and I saw a female peacock (peahen) chasing after a flock of wild turkeys which were running very comically (and sadly) from this poor peahen, who obviously just wanted a family and a place to be. A few months later, the flock came back again hanging around, and there was the Peahen! Totally at home in the middle of the wild turkeys, her bright feathers standing out among the dark natural tones of the turkeys.

Now, if you ever see peacocks and wild turkeys together, you realize just how similar these two birds are. In fact, if you put a male and female peacocks next to male and female turkeys, you can see the differences are truly negligible, at least on the surface biology. And me, being a hopeless romantic, held out long hopes of seeing Perkys running around! However, months and months passed and while I saw the peahen in the flock, no sign of Perkys .

For the last week we've been seeing a few interesting looking turkeys, with very yellow tails and a different color scheme than the rest of the turkeys in the flock. I had seen at least two different ones in two different flocks, but I was never able to get a good look at them, driving by at 40 miles an hour...

BUT....just moments ago, I was having a break and a cup of coffee on the porch, looking out on the oaks, listening to the birds and the creek....when suddenly, what appeared at first to be a single male turkey came wandering out of the oaks, carefully stepping in the grass, making his mating call. He had very light feathers on his tale, almost bright yellow and cream! I thought, how cool, its one of the yellow turkeys. Then BAM! He turned around and the sunlight caught his wings, and though from the distance his head seemed dark neutral brown, his wings were iridescent shimmery green!!!!! HOLY SH*T!!! Its a Perky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His mating call isn't the same as a normal turkey I'm used to either. Wow, I feel very blessed that I have seen this.

So my dad, Kenneth Allen, HeWhoWalksFar is a hobbyist photographer as well as an avid backpacker. We will be uploading his photography portfolio to his account, however, he's asked me to upload and maintain a large number of his photos as Stock, both free & unrestricted, as well as exclusive, here on this account.

All of his photos I will be offering as stock can be found under the HE WHO WALKS FAR folder in my gallery. (They will also be in other appropriate folders as well)

So I'm not sure how this will turn out, but, I wanted to point out some new awesome stock, in case you've missed it. I use a lot of stock here, and I'm so thankful for providers. I'd like to start providing my own free for DA stock soon too (almost have enough for a camera again!!!!!) in the meantime, I figure, help out a bit!!!
